Adult serotonergic neuron whose cell body is located in the posterior medial protocerebrum (Sitaraman et al., 2008. There around 12-16 neurons (Alekseyenko et al., 2010, organized into three clusters along the dorsal-ventral axis (Pooryasin and Fiala, 2015. (Sitaraman et al., 2008, Pooryasin and Fiala, 2015, Alekseyenko et al., 2010)
Sitaraman et al., 2008 note that these posteriorly-located cells may correspond to 'anterior' serotonergic neurons identified by Valles and White (1988).
